SupportCare Success Stories
The individuals we serve at SupportCare are always our top priority. As a testament to our dedicated staff, below are presented some of the many success stories that SupportCare has been a part of through the years.
SupportCare Helps Decrease Aggresive Behavior {SupportCare Central}
We have had more than one individual move to one of our licensed homes in Franklin County directly from their family home and who were aggressive toward family members. In these circumstances, we have typically seen a drastic, immediate and sustained decrease in aggressive behaviors. This is due, in part, to consistent training of and actions by SupportCare staff within the home. One gentleman in particular comes to mind. He had repeatedly verbally and physically abused his female family members. Since he moved into one of our licensed homes and established a consistent routine he has had little to no incidences of physical aggression in the two years he has been with us!
From Struggle to Independence
{SupportCare Central}
Two of our individuals we serve moved into their Supported Living home when they were in their early 20’s. They both have Down’s Syndrome, but have very good life skills. They started with 24-hour supports and struggled with their independence at first. We have now been serving them for 8 years. They only have staff in the evenings and are perfectly capable of taking care of their own needs at all other times due to all of the work SupportCare staff put into their programs and training. They are doing great!
Exercise and Music Make a Difference
{SupportCare North}
David Barton has worked with his consumer for several years. When he started, his consumer was very overweight and inactive. He also had issues regarding respect for females. With David as a consistent staff, his consumer has lost 60 pounds and exercises regularly. He is involved with many social activities including David’s church. Through the church, the consumer has made a number of friends. The consumer has more respect for women through David reinforcing the need to be respectful of females. Also, the consumer has a profound love of music and David is a musician. David has taught the consumer different songs on the guitar and has also taken the consumer to the recording studio.
